“As Mace’s Global Head of Aviation I am passionate about the role that new and existing sustainable airport infrastructure has to play in our future Net Zero Carbon World. We want to help people and business to be able to fly again in a post COVID world, but through infrastructure that minimises the impact on our precious and delicate environment. As a 6,000 person global construction, project management and programme management consultancy, focused on the successful delivery of major infrastructure around the world, one of our business priorities at Mace is to “Pursue a Sustainable World”, which includes targets for carbon impact – both for ourselves and in support of the clients that we work with. Already Net Zero Carbon as a business, we want to reduce our carbon consumption further by 10% year on year, reduce our clients’ carbon by 1 million tonne by 2026, and create a 500 ha biodiversity net gain by the end of our current five year business planning horizon. As such, we’re working with several major aviation clients around the world in decarbonising their assets – both during construction and in operation. Not only is this contributing to more environmentally friendly passenger facilities, but we’re also actively moving our clients along the sustainable aviation fuels path to ensure that we create an aviation legacy that remains for generations to come. Our aviation work spans the globe, from London to Melbourne, Iceland to Hong Kong, Lagos to Jeddah. Such a privileged position enables us to work alongside, and share lessons learned with some of the world’s most forward thinking airports such as Europe’s largest passenger airport, Schiphol in Amsterdam, Iceland’s North Atlantic Aviation Hub at Keflavik, and Hamad International Airport in Doha (recently crowned “Best Airport in the World” in the iconic Skytrax 2021 rankings). Aviation has an important role to play in support of global economic recovery. Partnerships between airlines, assets, government, communities and businesses like ours, will be key to making sure that the road to recovery is a sustainable one, to protect our beautiful planet for future generations to come. I am excited about the role that Mace plays on this journey.”
